Mission

Join us in an exciting adventure to complete the Edmonton Valley Line West LRT - a remarkable legacy project that will redefine our community’s transportation landscape! We are seeking an experienced On-Site Training Manager that will be responsible for planning, coordinating and executing all on-site activities necessary to deliver operating and maintenance training for a light rail transit (LRT) design-build project. Duties include managing subcontractors and internal staff and their training related deliverables for various subsystems and components of the Edmonton Valley Line West LRT project in accordance with the training plan. The On-Site Training Manager is required to ensure delivery of training and materials to the customer/light rail operator staff, in train-the-trainer format, that meets all applicable requirements and best practices. They will also assist in the development of in-house developed training materials, this includes training course development, working with designers and other technical staff to develop content, organizing training course deliveries with subcontractor and in-house trainers, and arranging for video recordings of training sessions. The tasks will include review of training materials, manuals, drawings, plans, method statements, and specifications.

Main Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule training sessions among all stakeholders including customers, subcontractors and in-house staff to support overall project schedule.
• Ensure the availability of resources for all onsite training sessions, including trainers (subcontractors and inhouse), subject matter experts, training sites and venues, student materials and required equipment and/or tools.
• Coordinate videographer services for all required training sessions.
• Attend and facilitate all training sessions to ensure engagement and effective learning.
• Maintain detailed training records, certifications, and reports for audit and compliance purposes.
• Develop high quality, effective technical training modules for LRT systems, vehicle operation, signalling, safety protocols, control systems, maintenance procedures, and emergency response, including planning, delivery, evaluation and tracking.
• Work closely with all departments, including Systems, Rail, Safety, and Quality, to align training programs with business objectives.
• Liaise with the client and third-party providers for specialized training and technical updates.
• Conduct comment resolution and other collaborative work activities with in-house and customer staff.
• Update course documentation on a regular basis for timeliness and relevance.
• Provide innovative learning solutions and apply industry best practices to address unique training challenges.

Requirements

• Degree in engineering or equivalent education and experience, with a minimum of 10 years of experience with instructional design and adult learning methodologies in a large highly technical organization.
• Knowledge of LRT construction and operations, trackwork, signalling, SCADA, communications, traction power, rail vehicle and shop equipment, operational and workplace safety and health, and applicable Transportation Industry Standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office package (MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Adobe PDF and Outlook).
• Experience with web-based collaboration technologies for project information and process management software (e.g. Aconex, Bluebeam)
• Good technical reviewing, writing and editing skills.
• Ability to work with authors and technical editors, to direct them effectively to achieve deliverables in high quality and timely fashion.

• Ability to negotiate the terrain of an in-process construction site, including climbing stairs and ladders, steep/ slippery terrain, walking, and working outdoors in all types of Edmonton weather and conditions.
