Sinai Health is seeking Patient Observers to provide on-site monitoring of groups of patients using remote video monitoring. The role requires physical presence at Mount Sinai Hospital Campus.

As part of the patient care team, the Patient Observer (Remote Patient Safety Monitor) offers enhanced observation of assigned patients through remote video and audio devices to prevent injury or harm.

In This Role You Will

  • Maintain visual observation of patients via video monitoring software
  • Document patient activities, behaviors, and incidents
  • Use two-way audio to communicate with patients for redirection and safety
  • Notify care team members of safety concerns or incidents
  • Follow instructions from healthcare professionals
  • Escalate concerns to management as needed
  • Ensure coverage when leaving the monitoring station
  • Participate in shift handovers and communicate pertinent patient information
  • Collaborate with the care team to address safety issues

Job Requirements

Mandatory

  • High School Diploma
  • Health Care Aide or Personal Support Worker certificate (or enrolled in a relevant healthcare program)
  • Equivalent recent training and experience considered

Preferred

  • Experience with Remote Patient Safety Monitoring

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficiency in medical terminology
  • Ability to respond to alarms and sensors
