As a valued member of our team, reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will collaborate closely with a dynamic group of Broadcast Professionals.

What You’ll Do

You’ll act with integrity to:

  • Pitch original and compelling story ideas, conduct research, write, voice, and produce news style stories for television, web, and social media platforms in order to promote and educate the public about the Legislative Assembly of Ontario and the legislative process.
  • Present on-camera content.
  • Demonstrate the utmost tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in a politically sensitive environment.
  • You’ll support our collaboration as you:
  • Work in a fast-paced, demanding, and team-orientated environment, while developing engaging video content to entertain and inform.
  • Support production staff with pre-production, shooting, editing and/or conducting interviews when the House is in session and complete video production when the House recesses.
  • Work alongside a Camera Operator/Editor to produce non-partisan content that focuses on the Legislative Assembly, what is happening at the Assembly and how the parliamentary process works.

How You Qualify

You demonstrate excellence through your:

  • A minimum of a college diploma in journalism or a related field and at least two (2) years’ experience as a Broadcast Journalist reporting on daily news.
  • Ability to generate, pitch and pursue strong, creative story ideas, as well write accurate and compelling scripts.
  • Strong interview skills and a comfortable dynamic on-air presence.
  • Ability to leverage social media and digital platforms.
  • Ability work independently and to be a team player, flexible and adept at fostering positive working relationships.
  • Ethos of non-partisan public service in support of good governance and healthy democracy.
  • Enjoyment of watching political debates and keen interest in, and knowledge of, current affairs.
  • Preference will be given to bilingual (French/English) candidates.
