The Salvation Army is seeking a Store Clerk/Sales Associate in Canada who will provide customer service, manage donations, process transactions, and help maintain appealing store displays. You will support inventory control and participate in store safety and cleanliness efforts.
Ideal candidates will have completed Public School, up to 3 months of related experience, and the ability to stand for long periods. The role involves varied shifts and hands-on teamwork in a busy retail environment.

JOB PURPOSE: The Store Clerk/Sales Associate provides service to customers, sorts incoming products, and assists the manager in the maintenance of all store operations.
NOTE: Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties.
The successful job applicant will have completed Public School. NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.

The incumbent must have the following experience before hire: Up to three months of prior related experience, including life skills.
The performance of the job requires continuously standing for long periods of time, frequent twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling, lifting, kneeling and entering data for transactions.
The performance of the job requires visual monitoring and frequently working with numbers.
The incumbent’s responsibility for Financial Resources: The incumbent is involved in minor financial matters regularly, or on a relief basis, or has responsibility for the wise use of his/her own resources. He/She may be authorized to spend, disburse, or collect small amounts of cash. The incumbent has very little input into the annual budget.
The incumbent’s responsibility for Human Resources: The incumbent is responsible for his/her own time and effort only. He/She may demonstrate work methods to new employees, volunteers and/or students.
The incumbent’s work environment is typically in the store. The incumbent will work under the following disagreeable conditions: Garbage Washrooms Odours Truck Fumes Verbal abuse Dealing with angry people Work schedule may impact life (weeknights & weekends). The incumbent may have little to no travel required. The incumbent works shift (days/nights - vary week to week).
The job incumbent may be exposed to the risk of minor harm, injury or illness due to: Physical attacks by others Exposure to toxic chemicals Moving objects Risk of back injuries (throwing back out) Other potentially dangerous situations (hold ups).
The incumbent must take the following precautionary measures (in addition to health and safety rules): Universal Precautions Wear gloves to sort Use fatigue mats when required Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $18.25 to $21.04 with a maximum of $23.82. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
