Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is hiring a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician for a short-term, part-time role at Western Zone/South Shore Regional Hospital. The position covers decontamination, sterilization, reassembly and testing of devices for OR use and distribution across departments.

The ideal candidate holds an MDR technician program, with preferred anatomy/terminology knowledge, and may have MDR experience. A skills test will be part of the process.

Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Completed approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program (practicum preferred)
• Formal education in anatomy, medical terminology, microbiology, infection control preferred
• Membership with the Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Nova Scotia preferred
• Previous MDR experience preferred
• Experience operating MDR related equipment
• Knowledge of Infection Control measures and Routine Practices
• Must carry up to 30 pounds; manual dexterity required
• French language skills are an asset

Responsibilities

• Decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, function testing and distribution of medical devices for OR and hospital areas
• Perform related clerical duties and record keeping
• Participate in the selection process via a skills test
