On-Call Clerk

REGULAR TERM (10-Month) POSITION (Monday to Friday 06:45-14:15, must be flexible with start/end times)

The Burnaby School District, one of the largest and most progressive urban districts in the province, provides comprehensive educational programs and services to 41 elementary and 8 secondary schools, along with additional facilities. We are seeking an On-Call Clerk for the Board Office. The On-Call Clerk is responsible for filling daily vacancies by dispatching teachers and support staff replacements to meet the district's needs. The role involves data entry, report generation, and general clerical duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determine daily vacancies, select and contact appropriate replacements, and confirm arrangements with schools for teachers and support staff.
  • Enter data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain office records and produce related reports (e.g., teacher-on-call usage, absenteeism, and other statistics).
  • Perform general clerical duties.
  • Operate office equipment.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • One year of clerical work experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer applications related to the work.
  • Knowledge of office procedures.
