Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking an On-Call/Casual Security Guard to cover multiple sites in the Guelph and Kitchener regions, including hospitals and non-healthcare locations. You will patrol premises, monitor CCTV, and manage access at various sites across shifts.

The role requires a valid Ontario Security License, First Aid & CPR Level C, immunization records, and the ability to work across shifts. Paladin offers UOF/MOAB training with costs covered and a 6-month commitment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• First Aid & CPR - Level C Certification is required.
• Ontario Security License is required.
• Immunization records for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella and TB skin test are required.
• COVID double vaccinated is required.

Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital grounds and surrounding areas.
• Operate surveillance cameras and alarm systems, report suspicious activity.
• Monitor and control access points for restricted areas.
• Respond quickly to medical emergencies, fire alarms, or threats.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients and staff.
• De-escalate conflicts and document interactions professionally.
• Document daily activities and incidents in reports.
• Enforce hospital policies and visitor/patient protocols.

Position Description

Working as a casual guard, you will be required to travel and work across multiple sites within the Kitchener and Guelph regions, including both healthcare and non-healthcare locations.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats.
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.

Prerequisites

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
• Valid G class Driver License with last 3 years of Clean Abstract as asset
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
