THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Lead Data Scientist, you will manage technical projects involving data engineering, model selection, and infrastructure deployment across various industries. You are expected to develop deep industry expertise and craft solutions based on first principles, curiosity, and your software engineering foundations. You will collaborate with Oliver Wyman partners, engage directly with clients, and work with other specialists and consultants to deliver solutions.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Exploring data, building models, and evaluating performance to solve core business problems.
  2. Explaining, refining, and collaborating with stakeholders throughout the model development process.
  3. Staying updated with the latest in data science methodologies and developing familiarity with emerging techniques.
  4. Promoting best practices in modeling, code hygiene, and data engineering.
  5. Leading the development of proprietary algorithms and analytical tools.
  6. Shaping proposals with Partners and Principals that leverage data science capabilities.

YOUR EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

You should be a well-rounded technologist with experience in:

  • A background in computer science, data science, machine learning, AI, statistics, or related fields.
  • Designing and deploying large-scale technical solutions that provide ongoing value, including experience with supervised and unsupervised learning, cloud infrastructure, and rapid deployment decisions.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python and familiarity with ML frameworks such as Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
  • Solid understanding of the mathematical principles underpinning data science, including statistics, linear algebra, and vector calculus.
  • Experience presenting at data science conferences and engaging with the data science community is highly valued.
  • Interest or background in Financial Services, Healthcare, Life Sciences, or other industries.
