Kingston & District School, located in Kingston, Kings County, includes Grades primary (P) to five (5). The school has approximately 31.75 full-time equivalent teaching positions and a projected enrollment of 434 students for the 2025-2026 school year.

The Vice Principal will assist the Principal by providing instructional leadership, ensuring the implementation of the Public Schools Program and curriculum to maximize student learning. The role also includes overseeing the orderly operation of the school in the absence of the principal and performing duties as assigned by the principal.

Qualifications and Abilities:

  • A Master’s of Education Degree in instructional/educational leadership or equivalent is preferred.
  • Successful instructional leadership at the elementary school level is preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years exemplary teaching experience in a public school.
  • Ability to provide instructional leadership.
  • Effective communication skills with staff, students, parents, community, and outside agencies.
  • Proficiency in current communication technologies.
  • Positive contribution to an administrative team.
  • Ability to support staff and educational partners in decision-making through energetic and collaborative leadership.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, orderly, positive, and effective teaching and learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Principal in creating a positive, safe, respectful learning and working environment.
  • Help establish a school-wide vision of high standards and academic success.
  • Provide leadership, foster leadership in others, and manage people, data, and processes.
  • Complete required documents as requested by the Centre and/or the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
  • Assist in identifying staffing needs and participate in staff selection.
  • Support efforts to ensure full and regular attendance of students.
  • Supervise school-based staff, including attendance management, performance evaluations, and personnel matters.
  • Promote professional growth through planning and feedback.
  • Ensure proper evaluation techniques for students and staff.
  • Monitor organizational systems such as student and teacher records, attendance, purchasing, budgets, and timetables.
  • Assist in hiring replacement staff when necessary.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the school.
  • Maintain financial records and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
