Job summary

Aker Solutions ASA is seeking an Offshore Material Controller to manage receipt, inspection, and storage of materials on an offshore platform. You will ensure deliveries are complete, documented, and compliant with safety and client requirements.

The role requires at least 5 years in offshore construction, strong knowledge of material management systems, and hands-on experience with SAP. The position involves coordinating with procurement, logistics, and shore teams to maintain material

Qualifications

  • Diploma, trade certification, degree or equivalent experience in logistics, supply chain, or a related discipline in oil and gas
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in offshore construction
  • Regulatory training in accordance with the CAAP Standard Practice for the Training and Qualifications of Offshore Personnel
  • Practical knowledge of piping, valves, fittings, instrumentation, equipment, and electrical materials
  • Knowledge of Material Management and Procurement systems
  • Strong knowledge of offshore lifting operations, cargo manifesting, and inventory systems
  • Familiarity with hazardous materials handling and certification requirements
  • Ability to read design documents such as P&ID’s, Isometrics and construction work packs
  • Adheres to platform safety culture and procedures including Permit to Work, ICC, and Process Safety systems
  • Skilled with SAP, Kabal, Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts, rigging equipment, and material handling tools to receive, move, stage, and store materials offshore
  • Coordinate loading and offloading of offshore containers per procedures and HSE requirements
  • Use SAP and other MM systems to perform inventory transactions, receipts, tracking, and reconciliations
  • Maintain equipment records and certification documentation in Kabal
  • Ensure material certification and preservation records are accurate and complete
  • Identify shortages, overages, damages, and discrepancies and coordinate resolution with onshore teams
  • Coordinate bagging, tagging, kitting, and staging to support offshore construction
  • Provide real-time visibility of offshore inventory and reports aligned with construction activities
  • Participate in weekly planning and logistics meetings for vessel loadouts and campaigns
  • Analyze material availability and expedite issues, coordinating with project disciplines

Our Supply Chain team is seeking an Offshore Material Controller to manage the receipt, inspection, and storage of materials and equipment offshore. This position ensures deliveries are complete, undamaged, accurately documented, and stored in compliance with company, client, and preservation requirements.

What will you be doing?
  • Operate forklifts, rigging equipment, and other material handling tools to safely receive, move, stage, and store materials and equipment on the offshore platform.
  • Safely coordinate and execute the loading and offloading of offshore containers in accordance with company procedures and HSE requirements.
  • Utilize SAP and other material management and procurement systems to perform inventory transactions, goods receipts, material tracking, reporting, and inventory reconciliations.
  • Maintain temporary equipment records within Kabal, ensuring inspection dates are current and all certification documentation is uploaded accurately.
  • Ensure material certification, preservation, and compliance records are accurate, complete, and maintained within applicable client and company systems.
  • Identify and communicate material or equipment shortages, overages, damages, and discrepancies to the appropriate offshore disciplines, while coordinating resolution with the onshore procurement and logistics teams.
  • Coordinate the bagging, tagging, kitting, and staging of materials to support offshore construction activities by reviewing work packs and identifying material requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time visibility of offshore inventory and material status, providing timely reports aligned with planned construction activities while maintaining close communication with procurement, logistics, and warehouse personnel.
  • Participate in weekly planning and logistics meetings, providing material status updates and supporting construction priorities for upcoming vessel loadouts and offshore campaigns.
  • Analyze and resolve material availability and expediting issues, proactively identifying risks and coordinating solutions with the appropriate project disciplines.
  • Maintain accurate material databases, manifests, inventory records, and tracking systems to ensure full material traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate the mobilization and demobilization of rental equipment, ensuring accurate tracking, utilization records, and equipment timesheets.
  • Liaise daily with the onshore procurement, logistics, and warehouse teams to resolve material issues, expedite critical deliveries, and ensure continuity of offshore operations.
  • Collaborate closely with deck crews and crane operators to safely and efficiently offload, stage, and distribute materials to the point of use.
  • Coordinate the backloading of surplus, excess, damaged, and returnable materials to onshore facilities, ensuring all documentation, purchase order references, and equipment records are complete and accurate.
  • Report directly to the Project Procurement Lead, with functional reporting responsibilities to the Offshore Lead, ensuring alignment between offshore execution and project supply chain objectives.
We think you should have:

  • Familiarity with hazardous materials handling and certification requirements
  • Comprehensive understanding and ability to read design documents such as P&ID’s, Isometrics and construction work packs
  • Adheres to the platform safety culture and procedures, more specifically the Permit to Work system, ICC, and Process Safety systems
  • Skilled with computer applications such as SAP, Kabal, Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision, while adapting well to a flexible and informal operating environment
