What you can expect from this position:
Reporting to the Manager, Security Operational Support, you will be responsible for overall coordination and oversight of security activities related to construction at Toronto Pearson on behalf of the GTAA.
As an Officer, Construction Security Planning, you will:
- Create a general security requirements document for security at Toronto Pearson for the Project Manager team (part of RFP)
- Attend construction meetings with security implications and develop site-specific Security Construction and Operations Plans with the Project Manager/General Contractor
- Assess and evaluate developmental project plans and drawings for compliance with security regulations and policies
- Develop interim security measures during construction and monitor operations for compliance, addressing non-compliance issues at all project phases
- Notify local Transport Canada Security Inspector(s) about relevant construction security issues
- Manage the Security Whiteboard process with the Contracted Security Services team to ensure proper authorization and documentation
- Implement a quality assurance program with regular audits of construction activities at Toronto Pearson
- Administer the Temporary Airport Security Pass application process, including retrieval and financial penalties, in coordination with Pass Control
- Ensure only GTAA-approved security service providers are used for restricted area security services
- Create briefing packages for major construction projects with security impact for operational group awareness
- Ensure certified Access Control Officers at construction access points have required documentation and equipment (FTR lists, post orders, safety equipment, etc.)
- Create and provide a Security PowerPoint for Site Safety and Security Orientation sessions (for Project Manager/General Contractor use)
- Investigate security issues related to construction activities and implement corrective actions
This unionized position is classified at the Band 7 level, with an hourly wage of $44.63, based on a 37.5-hour work week. As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to complete a test.
This is the role for you, if you have:
- Minimum High School Diploma
- 5 years’ experience in airport security operations plus experience in interpreting and implementing legislation, regulations and security policies
- Experience in construction procedures and policies
- Demonstrated experience working in a customer-centric environment
- Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position
Knowledge and skills you bring, that set you up for success:
- Knowledge of GTAA and industry security systems, standards, and best practices
- Knowledge of Transport Canada regulations and the application to maintain operations
- Knowledge of airport layout, client and tenant operations, passenger, baggage and other traffic flows and activities
- Ability to conduct inspections, assess findings and provide direction for the correction of deficiencies
- Ability to compile, assess and analyze information and determine the required action
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to create security plans and procedures and communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
- Ability to collaborate authoritatively with partners
