Before reading further, ask yourself three questions. Your honest answers will tell you whether this is the right fit.
The Office Controller isn't defined by a single ledger or the single close: you own SIA's accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls end-to-end, and you're the person leadership turns to for a clear, accurate read on the business.
Between our client engagements, R&D projects, and operations in Canada, the US, and the Caribbean, SIA's books are never static. You'll need to keep accounting operations tight and compliant while adapting to the pace of a boutique consultancy.
The role calls for hands-on ownership of accounting, financial reporting, and office admin, while also coaching a small corporate services team (accounting, HR, and office admin) and advising management on budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
If you answered yes to all three, we want to hear from you!
SIA Innovations is a boutique digital transformation consultancy operating at the forefront of AI and hybrid cloud adoption. We help medium and large organizations - across Quebec, Canada, and internationally - take advantage of IBM technologies (AI, agentic, cloud, cybersecurity, automation, blockchain, and more) to increase their agility.
Based in the heart of downtown Montréal (with direct access to the Metro and REM), SIA also has offices in Toronto, Los Angeles, and Nassau, and works with major clients and public-sector organizations across Quebec, Ontario, the Caribbean, and the United States.
As Office Controller, you are responsible for SIA's day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and office administration. You supervise a small corporate services team (accounting, HR, and office admin) and report to the Vice President – Services, a member of the senior management team. Your mandate is to keep SIA's finances accurate, compliant, and clear enough that leadership can make sound decisions quickly - in an environment where multiple client engagements, sales, and currencies all flow through your multi-company books.
This role is central to SIA's operations: your work underpins everything from client billing to company-wide budgeting, and your judgment shapes how confidently leadership can plan for the future.
Your responsibilities are a direct expression of SIA's five core values.
Challenging and rewarding work with real ownership over SIA's numbers; your work will help shape decisions made at the leadership table.
Direct exposure to high-profile private & public sector clients in a variety of industries & geographies, across all of SIA’s innovation studios.
A direct line to, and close collaboration with, SIA's leadership team.
The opportunity to work in a boutique IT consultancy alongside (and leveraging) leading-edge AI and hybrid cloud technologies and teams.
Opportunity for growth and advancement as SIA's operations scale.
Competitive compensation, performance incentives, and a comprehensive benefits package.
A blended work/life environment and culture, with continuous learning and personal growth.
An opportunity to build your business/social networks and soft skills.
100% on-site presence, five days a week, to stay close to the teams and information you support.
Meet the recurring deadlines of month-end, quarter-end, year-end close, and our annual audit.
Handle confidential and sensitive financial and HR information with discretion and professionalism.
Communicate proactive with internal teams and external stakeholders, including auditors, suppliers, and government agencies.
Prioritize competing demands, especially during peak close, budgeting, and audit periods.
Adapt to peak periods (year-end, tax season, audits) that may require additional focus and time.
Be “on call”, i.e. available in the event of occasional urgent finance matters outside regular hours (yes, even during personal time off!).
Plan vacations and time-off (maximum 2 consecutive weeks) within designated summer and winter slow-down periods and outside of our blackout periods.
