Job description

Reporting jointly to the Executive Producer and the Facilities Manager, the Office and Artistic Coordinator will support Gateway departments with administrative duties in preparation for the 2025/2026 season, including summer auditions, events, and general season administration. Occasionally, opportunities for training and collaboration with other department managers may also be available.

We seek a curious candidate eager to learn how a professional theatre operates by working across multiple departments with a proactive and collaborative approach. Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills are essential, along with an interest in theatre administration, technical production, and theatre education.

Responsibilities:
  • Organizing and facilitating auditions
  • Attending and supporting summer artistic events as needed
  • Data entry and record keeping
  • Archival organization
  • Research and development for upcoming events
  • Assisting with production administration
  • Performing general administrative duties across departments
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Keen interest in theatre, performance, or events
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail
  • Curiosity and proactive attitude towards projects

Assets (not required):

  • Experience in theatre
  • Knowledge of Cantonese or Mandarin
  • Studies in Arts Administration or Theatre Arts
  • Experience in special events

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. The applicant must:

  • Be between 18 and 30 years old at start of employment
  • Commit to the full 8-week work period
  • Not hold another full-time job (>30 hours/week)
  • Not attend full-time classes during employment
  • Have satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks
  • Be legally eligible to work in Canada
