Job description

John Ross & Sons Ltd. is a fourth generation, family-owned, scrap metal recycler. The company is the largest scrap metal recycling facility in Atlantic Canada and has been in operation for over 70 years, primarily in Halifax. John Ross & Sons Ltd. specializes in purchasing and processing all ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals.

We are currently seeking a dynamic individual who is a go-to person, forward thinker, and excellent problem solver to join our team as an Office Administrator for our Halifax locations!

As the successful individual, you will bring to the table :

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an administrative role
  • Experience with operating a scale is an asset
  • Highly self-motivated, energetic personality
  • Knowledge in Excel, Word, and other office systems
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced office environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, 7am-5 : 00pm and some Saturdays from 7am-12pm
  • Must have reliable transportation as this role requires travel to different locations as needed

What you will be doing :

  • Cash management
  • Operating the scale
  • High customer service levels met and maintained
  • Assisting with purchasing, monitoring, and tracking inventory
  • Identify gaps and create efficiencies where needed
  • Liase with external providers including all Sales Teams
  • Identify and fix any payout discrepancies or situations on the spot

Job Type : Full-time, permanent, in-office

Work Hours : Monday through Friday, 7am-5 : 00pm and some Saturdays from 7am-12pm
