Position Title: Off-Campus Housing Coordinator

Status: Full Time

Hours : 37.5 hours per week

Faculty/Department : Campus Services

Campus/Location: This role will primarily be on-site, alternating between the North and Lakeshore Campus with some flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per month. There will be some flexibility to increase remote work days during certain periods, based on operational needs.

Salary: FT Support Payband H (Start $36.29 – Max $42.13)

About The Off-Campus Housing Coordinator Role

Under direction of the Manager, Residence Admissions, the Off Campus Housing Coordinator is responsible for off campus housing services, resources, and supports for Humber and University of Guelph-Humber students, as well as developing and maintaining community partner relationships. The Off Campus Housing Coordinator engages current and future learners and their families, providing comprehensive, student-centric support related to off campus accommodations with a goal of creating a sense of belonging within the larger Humber environment. The Coordinator acts as an expert in off campus housing trends, community concerns, bylaws, etc., and will collaborate with on campus and community partners to ensure a broad range of housing options are available to Humber and University of Guelph-Humber learners with varying needs. Collaborating with campus and community partners, the Off Campus Housing Coordinator participates in the building and maintaining of processes, designs and delivers programming, receives and makes referrals both on and off campus, and assists learners in finding safe off campus accommodations options.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Providing comprehensive support related to off-campus housing for students and their families.
  • Ensuring a broad range of safe housing options are available, taking into account diverse needs.
  • Responding to inquiries related to on-campus and off-campus housing.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with off-campus housing providers and community partners.
  • Identifying new opportunities for safe housing options and ensuring existing agreements are upheld.
  • Participating in campus events and offering informational sessions to educate students and their families about housing options.
  • Developing and delivering student programming that is inclusive, culturally relevant, and meeting the intersectional needs of students from equity-deserving groups.
  • Train and coach student staff to extend additional supports to all learners.
  • Offering off-campus alternatives to students on the Residence waitlist.
  • Preparing students moving out of Residence with knowledge of their rights and responsibilities for off-campus living.
  • Assisting with major events like move-in and move-out or unexpected urgent situations.
  • Tracking and analyzing key metrics related to student housing experiences.
  • Conducting an annual assessment of the off-campus housing experience and compiling an annual report.
  • Working with the Manager to secure alternative funding sources to subsidize operational costs.
  • Occasional evening and weekend shifts are required for program delivery, open houses, Residence move in and move out, etc.
