Job summary

Armstrong Fluid Technology is seeking an OEM Engineer to optimize customer specifications and lead engineering projects for product portfolio enhancements. The engineer collaborates with US Sales and reports to the US Engineering Manager, contributing to design and manufacturing improvements.

Ideal candidates have a Mechanical Engineering background, 5+ years in customer solutions, and strong communication and analytical skills. Travel up to 20% and international exposure may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in design and development of customer solutions, preferably HVAC-related.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to analyze data and define technical requirements.
• Experience using SolidWorks 3D, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• HVAC and plumbing pump industry experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interact with customers to interpret applications and develop engineering standards.
• Manage ERP data including BOM and routing updates.
• Issue drawing packages for pump packages for assembly.
• Provide pricing input to sales for pump packages and components.
• Support sales with technical assistance and customer guidance.
• Visit OEM factories and customer projects for meetings and training.
• Attend trade shows and support US Sales as needed.

This position, OEM Engineer, interacts with external and internal sources to optimize customer specifications of the current product portfolio and lead projects in support of new opportunities. The role is accountable to provide technical input to enhance design and manufacturing activities within Armstrong and our customers. The OEM Engineer reports to the US Engineering Manager and works directly with each of the members of the US internal and external Sales organization.

Key Accountabilities:

• Work within business systems while following proper set up and document control procedures; facilitating clean order entry
• Interact with customers as required to interpret applications, specifications, and provide solutions by developing engineering standards for a given product
• Manage data in the Armstrong ERP system which requires BOM and routing updates, modifications and item creation
• Issue drawing packages for pump packages to the assembly team and provide support during the build process
• Support inside and outside sales with pricing of pump packages and components
• Provides technical assistance, information, support and guidance to customers and sales representatives
• Provides input for proposal, data packages, and product. May be asked to review orders written by sales representatives for correct pricing and product selections
• Visit OEM customer factories for scheduled meetings and training sessions
• Visit customer projects for support, troubleshooting, and implementation consultations
• Attend trade shows and off-site company meetings as required in support of US Sales

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should bring:

• Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering required
• Minimum 5 years experience in the design and development of customer solutions, preferably in the HVAC industry.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; Ability to think clearly and logically, analyze quantitatively, problem solve and define technical requirements; Is highly analytical and understands how to visualize and present complex data
• Experience and ability to use SolidWorks 3D, Excel, Word, and Power Point
• Previous experience in HVAC and Plumbing pump industry strongly preferred. Other pumping industry experience highly desirable.
• Previous experience with mechanical skid package and/or hydronic design.
• Travel required, estimate 10% to 20%
• Some international travel (Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia) may be required
• Ability to communicate with individuals by phone, email and face-to-face
