Job description

Toromont Cat is looking for a OEM Buyer to join our team! This position plays a critical role in analyzing and maintaining inventory amongst all branches (55+) through OEM stock orders and emergency orders.

This is a full time (12 month contract) position.

In a typical day, YOU will:

  • Analyze and maintain proper stock levels in the branch network – processing stock orders to suppliers.
  • Process customer emergency orders daily to suppliers and/or source from our internal stock.
  • Maintain parts pricing records in DBS including uploading vendor price change files, proper codes used (cc, non-return indicator, etc.) and challenge supplier pricing disputes.
  • Review and process annual or semiannual surplus returns back to vendors. In addition ensure that accounts receivable files are up to date.
  • Reduce inventory obsolescence by scraping inventory or levelling amongst other branches to ensure a healthy inventory.
  • Work with Accounts Payable/Receivable to ensure prompt invoice payment to supplier, maintain current PO disputes and outstanding customer orders/backorders.

Must-haves for this role:

  • 2+ years of Purchasing and Inventory Control experience (Required)
  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in purchasing or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Required)
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel is an essential component to this role. VLOOKUP to compare values in multiple tables and knowledge of pivot tables/charts would be an asset
  • Ability to place purchase orders, maintain supply inventory and pricing database
  • Punctual and responsible and Attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a group environment
  • Polite and courteous customer service skills, working with internal and external customers and suppliers
  • PMAC designation – Purchasing Management Association of Canada certificate
