Job summary

Alstom invites applications for the CAD Designer Intern (Fall 2026) in Toronto, ON. You will join the Overhead Catenary System design team, performing mechanical calculations and helping create 3D model libraries while coordinating across Engineering, Project Management, Site Construction and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
• Knowledge of Canadian standards and common practices.
• First understanding of Railway Electrification subsystems.
• Familiarity with AutoDesk software and other modelling tools.
• A desire to pursue a Professional Engineer designation (desirable).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the OCS design team to meet on-time design submission goals.
• Developing Basic and Detailed design documents under your scope.
• Providing support on OCS topics to System Engineering and BIM teams.
• Respecting Engineering Management, Design Quality, and Interface Management plans.
• Ensuring compliance with normative references and local standards.
• Coordinating with stakeholders across locations (Toronto, France, Italy) and departments.
• Undertaking 3D modelling activities to support OCS design development.
