Responsibilities
  • Handling import files “A-to-Z”, including: quoting, booking, dispatching, preparing ocean freight documents, offering/issuing insurance certificates, tracking, troubleshooting, and invoicing.
  • Coordinating freight daily with vendors/agents.
  • Participating in department and branch team meetings.
  • Rate/contract negotiation.
  • Issuing pertinent freight documentation.
  • Constant monitoring and replying to e-mails in the import’s and personal work mailboxes.
  • Ensuring appropriate margins are met on shipments.
  • Ensuring vendor compliance with service standards
  • Maintaining and fostering vendor and client relationships.
  • Timely actioning vendor and client requests.
  • Cross Train on exports in order to cover when necessary
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3+ years of Ocean Import Experience
  • Experience handling complex cargo-Dangerous Goods, ITAR, Project Cargo
  • Dangerous Goods training Certification-IATA and IMDG strongly preferred
  • Experience with Descartes preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to keep up with fast paced changes in the international logistics environment
