Job summary

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking Certified Occasional Teachers to join our Elementary OT Roster (K-8). Occasional Teachers replace short-term absences in our schools and are an integral part of our district.

Local residency is mandatory for onboarding; successful candidates must reside in the Ottawa area or relocate within 60 days from the offer date and be ready to begin assignments after onboarding.

Qualifications

• Must be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).
• Must hold a Basic Qualification of either Primary, Junior or Intermediate.
• Local residency in Ottawa area or willing to relocate within 60 days from offer.

Responsibilities

• Occasional Teachers replace short-term absences in our schools.
• Support student learning in assigned classes within the Elementary OT roster.
• Collaborate with school staff to maintain instructional continuity and quality.

Elementary Occasional Teacher (OT) Roster

We are looking for Certified Occasional Teachers to join our Elementary OT Roster (K-8).

Occasional Teachers replace short term absences in our schools and are an integral part of our district.

Qualifications

• Must be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (individuals with a pending OCT certificate should proceed with submitting their application)
• Must hold a minimum of one Basic Qualification of either Primary, Junior or Intermediate.

The local residency is a mandatory requirement for onboarding. Successful candidates must reside in the Ottawa or surrounding area or be willing to relocate within 60 days from the date of offer, and must be available to begin accepting assignments immediately upon completion of the onboarding process.

Following the closure of this competition in August 2026, only candidates with the required qualifications, who are in Good Standing and visible on OCT, will be contacted for an interview for the next available date. Interviews are expected to take place in September 2026.

Should your OCT certification remain pending at the closure of this competition, you will be required to re-submit your application.
