Job description

Job Summary:
The Occupational Therapist (OT) will join an interdisciplinary team of rehabilitation and health professionals in the delivery of services in an acute care facility. Services/programs offered include inpatients and outpatients, Assess & Restore, and Assistive Devices Program (ADP).

Qualifications:
• Graduate from a recognized school of Occupational Therapy.
• Registered, or eligible for registration, with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
• Ability to prioritize professional duties, manage multiple patients, and efficiently organize workload in a busy, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to function within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Experience with assistive device/equipment assessment and prescription is considered an asset.

Job Duties:
  • Workload includes client care of acute and chronic inpatients, long-term care residents, and outpatients.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment programs for a variety of patients including orthopedic, medical, neurological, and surgical.
  • Participate in the discharge planning of clients and liaise with community resources.
  • Assess and prescribe assistive devices and equipment.
  • Maintain records in accordance with OT Standards of Practice.
  • Provide clinical support/direction to rehabilitation assistants and support staff, and prioritize.
  • Ensure patient safety.
