Job summary

1to1 Rehab is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist to support a paediatric caseload in school settings within Downsview/Yorkdale. This independent contractor role offers flexible scheduling and autonomy to select referrals based on geography and availability.

You will work in a nationally accredited service providing OT, with strong support from an established organization and admin infrastructure. Travel compensation may be available for suitable cases.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
  • Registration with COTO is required.
  • 2 years OT experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Access to reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license.
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check within 1 year of start with 1to1.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive OT assessments focusing on ADLs/IADLs, safety, and home environment.
  • Assess home environments to identify safety risks and recommend mitigations.
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based intervention plans with SMART goals.
  • Demonstrate training in assistive devices, mobility aids, and home safety equipment.
  • Facilitate short-term trials of equipment and provide follow-up recommendations.
  • Educate clients, families and caregivers on safe mobility and daily care strategies.
  • Support independence and safety at home while reducing injury risk.
  • Assist eligible clients with ADP applications and navigate funding resources.
  • Collaborate with clients, families, and interdisciplinary team for coordinated care.
  • Monitor progress, adjust plans, and document outcomes accurately.

Caseload Area

We are currently recruiting for one part‑time Occupational Therapist to support a Paediatric caseload under secure Ministry funding. Services are provided in schools within the following area:

  • Downsview
  • Yorkdale

You will have the opportunity to work within geographic areas that best align with your availability and travel preferences.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Completing comprehensive occupational therapy assessments focused on functional abilities, activities of daily living (ADLs/IADLs), home environment, safety, and available support systems
  • Assessing home environments to identify safety risks and recommending strategies and environmental modifications to reduce falls, improve accessibility, and support safe independence at home
  • Developing and implementing individualized, evidence‑based intervention plans aligned with best practice, client‑centred goals, and SMART outcomes
  • Recommending, trialing, and providing training in the use of assistive devices, mobility aids, transfer equipment, and home safety equipment, as appropriate
  • Facilitating short‑term trials of home safety or mobility equipment when required and supporting follow‑up recommendations
  • Providing education and hands‑on training to clients, families, and caregivers on safe mobility, transfers, daily care strategies, and energy conservation techniques
  • Supporting clients and caregivers to maintain independence, safety, and confidence in the home while reducing the risk of injury or functional decline
  • Assisting eligible clients with Assistive Devices Program (ADP) applications and navigating other relevant funding or community resources
  • Collaborating closely with clients, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated, meaningful care
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and documenting client progress; adjusting intervention plans as needed; and completing timely, accurate clinical documentation
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
  • Two (2) years of Occupational Therapy experience preferred but not required
  • Strong clinical assessment and intervention skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
  • Professional liability insurance
  • Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check within 1 year of start with 1to1
