Job summary

Nova Scotia Health seeks an Occupational Therapist for the Inpatient Unit in Mental Health and Addictions. You will join a multidisciplinary team to deliver recovery-oriented OT services, including psychoeducation and functional assessments, across inpatient psychiatry settings.

The role emphasizes independent work within a hospital context and collaboration with community partners to support patient outcomes. 75 hours biweekly; approx. 18 months, temporary assignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university.
• Eligible for CAOT membership.
• Registered member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia.
• Experience developing and delivering group and individual psychoeducation.
• Experience completing functional assessments.
• Ability to work independently and with a multidisciplinary team.
• French language skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide Occupational Therapy services to inpatient units as part of a multidisciplinary treatment plan.
• Develop and deliver psychoeducation for individuals and groups.
• Collaborate with hospital and community services to promote continuity of care.
• Contribute to recovery-focused, evidence-based patient care in a busy inpatient setting.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Inpatient Psychiatry Unit, Mental Health & Addictions, the incumbent will work with inpatientunits to provide Occupational Therapy services as part of a multidisciplinary treatment plan and consistent with the principles of recovery

About You

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited University
• Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT)
• Registered member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia
• Experience in developing and providing group and individual psychoeducation
• Demonstrated skills in completing functional assessments
• Demonstrated ability to build client capacity to promote occupational performance
• Evidence of ability to work independently, with a multidisciplinary team as well as with both hospital and community based services/agencies.
• Demonstrated use of innovative problem solving and application of evidence based practice to patient services.
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits

$38.43 - $50.99 Hourly
