Your Opportunity:

The Rehabilitation Advice Line (RAL) is a provincial service through Health Link that provides self management advice, education, resources and wayfinding to callers from across Alberta. The Rehabilitation Advice Line Physiotherapist I (PT I)/Occupational Therapist I (OT I) is responsible for the safe, effective and appropriate delivery of interdisciplinary rehabilitation advice to callers with a range of physical and functional concerns. Reporting to the Senior Consultant and Manager, Specialized Services at Health Link, and with the support of the Clinical Supervisor, the PT I/OT I is responsible for the tele-triage of rehabilitation calls and assessing caller needs by gathering and analyzing information about the issue/concern from the caller. The role requires critical thinking to systematically assess and address the caller’s needs using best practice and evidence informed resources. Job duties will be varied and will require a comprehensive range of Physiotherapy and/or Occupational Therapy skills. The clinical focus for all positions within the Rehabilitation Advice Line may be subject to change based on operational and organizational priorities. This position is located within Health Link in Calgary and requires extended periods of sitting and/or standing while taking calls. Evenings and or weekend shifts may be required. The hours and days of work will be discussed with the successful candidate. This position is part of Primary Care Alberta. Description:

As an Occupational Therapist (OT), you will provide evidence-informed services, with a focus on occupational performance designed to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or a community. You may act as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate and function as an integral health care team member. You will engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful and chosen occupations, including self-care, productivity and leisure. You will support clients to achieve optimum functional abilities and independence related to their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations. As an OT, you will provide comprehensive services, including triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, collaborative goal setting, treatment, prevention, self-management, education, case management, referral, transition support, and collaboration with relevant and chosen stakeholders and supports within the client¿s physical, institutional, cultural, and social environments. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. You will collaborate with clients and families in determining, implementing, and evaluating rehabilitation. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich support and engage in quality improvement by partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance services for the clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community and participate in peer mentoring and supervising students. You may also provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants and Therapy Aides.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program. Registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of five years’ clinical experience in a variety of settings (e.g., acute, community). The ability to manage a wide variety of clinical situations with varying levels of acuity, complexity and diverse caller populations. Experience in the delivery of virtual or tele-rehabilitation interventions is an asset. Excellent computer skills are essential, including working knowledge of the Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to use multiple electronic platforms concurrently. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and ability to collaborate effectively with clients, staff and management. Commitment to working collaboratively and to building a positive team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with MS Office Suite including Skype for Business. Previous contact centre experience is an asset.
