The Lethbridge Child Youth and Family Addiction and Mental Health Clinic is seeking to hire an Occupational Therapist I. Reporting directly to the Manager of Child, Youth and Family Addiction and Mental Health Program, the OT I will provide direct clinical services to children and adolescents experiencing mental health issues and/or substance use concerns, utilizing a client-centered approach.
Using evidence-informed practices and continuous quality improvement strategies, the OT I will ensure services are accessible, non-stigmatizing, and developmentally appropriate. The role involves managing a caseload, participating in group development and facilitation, and working within a multidisciplinary team.
As an Occupational Therapist, you will deliver evidence-based services focused on occupational performance tailored to individuals, groups, or communities. You may serve as a direct provider, consultant, educator, or advocate, engaging with clients and communities to support meaningful occupations such as self-care, productivity, and leisure.
You will assist clients in achieving optimal functioning and independence, considering their cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations. Your services will include triage, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, prevention, education, case management, referrals, and collaboration with stakeholders within the client's environment. Active participation of clients and families in care planning and evaluation will be encouraged.
You will collaborate with interprofessional teams, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and may supervise students, therapy assistants, and aides.
Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university and registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
Minimum of 2 years' experience working with children, youth, and families in a community setting, with a strong understanding of addiction and mental health from a recovery perspective. Proficiency with computers and virtual service delivery methods is required.
