Job summary

The Chantler Centre in Beeton, Ontario is seeking a passionate Occupational Therapist to provide play-based, life-changing interventions for children aged 2 to 12 with autism, in a supportive, neurodiversity-affirming setting.

You will collaborate with families and a multidisciplinary team to promote communication, social-emotional skills, and daily living activities through on-site assessments and client-centered plans.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Active registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
• 1–2 years of pediatric/autism experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct play-based and standardized developmental assessments tailored for autism.
• Create individualized, strength-based treatment plans focused on daily living skills.
• Design sensory strategies and environmental modifications for home and school.
• Partner with families to provide practical tools and activities for home use.
• Collaborate with speech, behavior analysts, and staff for a unified approach.
• Maintain compassionate, progress notes and reports aligned with funding requirements.

Target Population: Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), aged 2 to 12 Position Type: Full-time, on-site, start date September 1, 2026

Mission: The Chantler Centre promotes the health and well-being of children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Simcoe County by providing diagnostic, rehabilitative, and supportive services at no charge to families.

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and community-driven Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our non-profit team. In this role, you will provide life-changing, play-based interventions for children aged 2 to 12 diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. You will work closely with families to help children develop crucial communication skills, social-emotional tools, and alternative expression methods within a supportive, neurodiversity-affirming framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Holistic Evaluations: Conduct play-based and standardized developmental, sensory, and motor skill assessments tailored for children with autism.
• Neurodiversity-Affirming Care: Create individualized treatment plans focused on the child’s strengths, meaningful participation, and daily living skills like dressing, eating, and emotional self-regulation.
• Sensory Integration Support: Design sensory strategies and environmental modifications to help children navigate their homes, schools, and community spaces comfortably.
• Family-Centered Coaching: Partner with parents/caregivers to provide them with practical tools, language-rich strategies, and activities to support the child’s growth at home.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside speech and language therapists, behavior analysts, and center staff to ensure a unified approach to each child’s development.
• Advocacy & Documentation: Maintain compassionate, strength-based clinical notes and progress reports that align with non-profit funding and grant requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Licensing: Active registration and good standing with your provincial regulatory body (the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario).
• Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years working with autistic children or pediatric populations is highly preferred.
• Core Skills: Deep understanding of sensory processing, child development, and positive behavior supports. Strong empathy, patience, and a playful, energetic approach to therapy.
• Vulnerable Sector Check: provide current, satisfactory VSC

Terms

• Working On-Site at 4063 10th Sideroad Beeton, Ontario
• Compensation: Salary range $85,000 – $100,000 a year*, permanent, full-time, three week’s vacation and a benefits plan

* Salary will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, experience and education.
