Job summary

Vancouver Coastal Health seeks an Occupational Therapist to join the Bella Coola Hospital Rehabilitation Services team. You will deliver OT services to acute inpatients, long-term care residents and community clients, using evidence-based methods to plan and evaluate care.

Eligible candidates must be registered in BC and hold a degree in Occupational Therapy, with two years of related experience. Relocation assistance may be available and a BC driver’s license is required for local travel.

• Current full registration as an Occupational Therapist with CHCPBC.
• Degree in Occupational Therapy plus two years’ recent related experience.
• Valid BC Driver’s License & access to a personal vehicle for local travel.

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join the Rehabilitation Services team at Bella Coola Hospital in Bella Coola, BC.

About Bella Coola, Bc

Bella Coola sits in a mountain valley at the head of the North Bentinck Channel, 500 km north of Vancouver, with a population of about 1800 people. The community is at the end of a long, truly magnificent fjord, on the mainland coast of British Columbia. Bella Coola General Hospital has 10 acute bed, 5 residential beds and a 3 bed emergency department open 24/7, along with a laboratory, diagnostic imaging services, Telehealth, Mental Health, Public Health, Home & Community Support Services. Also within the hospital are a medical clinic and a pharmacy.

As An Occupational Therapist With VCH You Will

• Provide occupational therapy services to acute inpatients, long term care residents and community clients to achieve quality client focused care and enable clients to develop healthy patterns of occupations.


• Perform duties including identifying and assessing client’s occupational performance issues utilizing an evidence-based approach, planning and implementing goal directed services, evaluating the effectiveness of the service, and preparing and maintaining records.


• Contribute to the organization and delivery of occupational therapy services, and participate in departmental/program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research, and education.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.

Education & Experience

• Current full registration as an Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).


• Degree in Occupational Therapy plus two years’ recent related experience and or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


• Valid BC Driver’s License & access to a personal vehicle required for local travel.
