Job description

PositionSummary: Toplan and implement specific treatment programs for both individual and groupsof clients of the Timmins and District Hospital.

PositionResponsibilities:

  • Toprovide opportunities for clients to progress to their highest degreepossible by assessing the client’s condition, analyzing the client’sfunctional abilities and developing a client-centered approach totreatment.
  • Tocontinually evaluate the client’s treatment program and adjust thetreatment program so that it meets the client’s goals.
  • Toutilize a variety of occupational therapy treatment methods; includingcreative and manual techniques, technology development/fabrication ofcustom equipment and/or adapted techniques, educational material,recreational and social activities as the situation requires.
  • Toconsult with other members of the Multi-disciplinary team to coordinatetherapeutic programs for individual clients and groups of clients.
  • Toprepare and present reports of client’s progress in and reactions toOccupational Therapy and to maintain up-to-date health records of thisprogress.
  • Towork with the client, family and community agencies concerning appropriateOccupational Therapy home programs.

PositionRequirements:

  • Mustbe certified with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Mustpossess the verbal ability to communicate effectively with clients,families and other professional personnel and to use the terminologyassociated with Occupational Therapy.
  • Mustdemonstrate considerable initiative and judgment in selecting specificactivities in accordance with the physician’s orders, to interpret andrecord results and reaction, to develop and maintain work schedule and tosecure the cooperation of clients.
  • Mustpossess the ability to work with minimal supervision and must followstandardized procedures. Should beadaptable to cope with changing contacts with people, situations andconditions.
  • Musthave employment history which demonstrates regular attendance at work.
  • Bilingualism(French and English) would be considered an asset.
  • All TADH staff members must follow the COVID-19 vaccination series in accordancewith the most up-to-date vaccine guidance provided by the Ontario Ministry ofHealth.
  • Starting salary of $40.36/hour; $78,702.00/year (As per Step 1 ofthe OPSEU collective agreement.)
  • Option to enroll into Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
