Position Summary

We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Specialized Services department.

Within a client and family-centred recovery model, and in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia, the Occupational Therapist provides Occupational Therapy services to individuals with complex mental health illnesses, possibly co-occurring substance use and medical conditions. The goal is to enable clients to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes, working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.

The responsibilities include performing assessments on clients' occupational performance using evidence-based approaches, planning and implementing outcome-oriented services, evaluating service effectiveness, maintaining records, participating in research, demonstrating resource utilization and quality management, and contributing to the development and promotion of Occupational Therapy services. The Occupational Therapist manages a complex caseload independently, utilizing diverse intervention approaches, and acts as a resource for the designated areas, providing education and counseling to clients and families. They may also contribute to the organization and delivery of services, provide leadership and clinical guidance to staff, and participate in quality improvement initiatives, meetings, research, and education.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 08:00 to 16:30

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized university with an approved Occupational Therapy program.
  • Two years' recent experience in a psychiatric setting with individuals with complex mental health and addictions issues or equivalent.
  • Current registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.
  • Eligible for membership in the CAOT or BCSOT.

  • Equipment: Proficient in computer skills, data analysis, and operation of related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform duties.
