Job summary

Northern Health is seeking a registered Occupational Therapist to contribute to the Occupational Therapy & Recreation department in Prince George. You will perform assessments and interventions to enhance clients’ occupational performance under supervision while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and Lead OT.

You will apply evidence-based practice, communicate clearly with clients and families, and support optimal health outcomes in a dynamic hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a C.A.O.T. approved program in Occupational Therapy.
• Current registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia; eligible for CAROT membership.

Position Summary

Are you a registered Occupational Therapist looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Occupational Therapy & Recreation department.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position performs assessments and interventions related to client’s occupational performance according to established Occupational Therapy practices and regulatory standards. The occupational therapist works as a team member under the general supervision of the Lead Occupational Therapist in the OT department or designate. The Occupational Therapist works independently and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to promote functional independence and enable the client to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes.

Qualfications

• Graduate of a C.A.O.T. approved program in Occupational Therapy
• Current registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia. Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.

• Ability to teach clients and others both one-on-one and in groups.
• Integrates best practice and current research evidence to support professional practice decisions and actions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff and the members of the interdisciplinary team using, oral written and computer communication means.
• Ability to effectively resolve conflict.
• Ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively. Applies the problem-solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision-making skills using a systems approach.
• Ability to organize work, set objectives and establish priorities. Manages time and resources, implements activities to promote cooperation among the interdisciplinary team, supervises responsibilities of others, and collaborates across disciplines.
• Promotes staff morale, engagement, and risk-taking. Demonstrates creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self and others.
• Ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.
• Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Windows based programs including email and word processing and data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools.
• Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
