Reports to: Manager, Allied Health
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Wage range: $42.21 per hour - $52.76 per hour (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Status: Permanent Full Time
Closing Date: January 18, 2025

Working under the direction of the Operational Manager and in collaboration with other members of the inter-disciplinary team, the Occupational therapist will assess and treat patients, delegate appropriate duties to OTA/ PTA, provide student supervision and maintain best practice standards in accordance with UHN policies and procedures. This position would float to various units so the patient population may change depending on the department's needs.

Duties:

  • Provide quality occupational therapy services to patients at Toronto General and Princess Margaret Hospital within the framework of patient-centered care.
  • Communicate effectively with members of the inter-professional team.
  • Provide education to patients, their families, occupational therapy students, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, committees, and quality initiatives in the Department and relevant Programs/Services.
  • Assist with coverage of other service areas where required.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a Masters of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (M.Sc. (OT)) or equivalent.
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
  • Member of Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and/or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) is preferred.
  • 1-2 years experience in an acute care hospital is preferred.
  • Experience with acute patients preferred.
  • Experience with Surgical, Oncology, GIM, Cardiovascular, Transplant, MSICU, &/or Nephrology patients an asset.
  • Experience with psychosocial and physical health and related assessment and intervention skills addressing occupational performance.
  • Experience with splinting, neurological dysfunction, as well as seating and positioning is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates strong and effective written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
