As the Occupational Health, Wellness & Disability Manager for Homewood Health Centre, you will be an integral part of a collaborative team focused on delivering seamless services and programs to our clients and customers. What you’ll be doing :
- Act as the Lead for disability claims, medical leaves, workplace accommodation and return-to-work (RTW) programs.
- Liaise with leaders and claims providers; share RTW updates within privacy guidelines.
- Maintain confidential employee disability records.
- Support employees with compassion and ensure compliance with the Ontario Human Rights Code.
- Collaborate with People & Culture and unions on RTW and accommodations.
- Manage relationships and contracts with disability providers.
- Oversee staff immunizations and complete required health and safety reports.
- Analyze absence data and make recommendations to address trends.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments and provide health guidance.
- Advise the Joint Health & Safety Committee on ergonomics, PPE, and public health.
- Support Psychologically Healthy Workplace initiatives and participate in the One Health Homewood Committee.
- Arrange occupational exposure testing.
- Draft policies on occupational health, attendance, disability, and outbreaks.
- Manage WSIB claims, appeals, reporting, and cost-saving strategies.
- Provide attendance support and guidance in collaboration with HR and leaders; develop and report on Attendance Management program metrics.
- Recommend wellness supports for employees including EFAP and other Homewood resources.
- Implement infection control strategies for staff wellness.
- Lead immunization clinics and N95 fit testing.
- Manage staff illness tracking, reporting, and outbreak response.
- Liaise with Public Health and attend all IPC and outbreak meetings.
What we are looking for :
- Degree or Diploma in Health Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety, or Disability Management.
- Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP), (or in progress), or Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC), or equivalent is an asset.
- At least 3 years’ work experience in Health / Wellness, WSIB management, disability management, early and safe return-to-work, and accommodation review, including complex claims management, preferably in a unionized and public sector environment; experience in a health care environment is preferred.
- Sound understanding of infection control and its workplace implications.
- Thorough knowledge of disability legislation and regulations, including Duty to Accommodate, Workers’ Compensation Act, Human Rights Legislation, and AODA.
- Knowledge of OHA Communicable Disease Surveillance Protocols is preferred.
- Effective case management skills requiring active involvement and advanced strategies for managing complex cases and work re-entry programs.
- Excellent assessment and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships with key stakeholders.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of reporting systems and database applications; Parklane experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented, creative, and resourceful.
