Qualifications

Job description

Are you looking for a role that will challenge you? We are seeking an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Specialist to promote, develop, implement, and oversee safety programs, policies, and a culture of safety at CNL. If this sounds interesting, apply today!

What will you be doing:
  • Promoting positive workplace OSH practices and ensuring compliance with program and legislative requirements among project personnel and contractors.
  • Monitoring OSH-related project activities for compliance.
  • Supporting the development, review, and implementation of OSH programs, work plans, risk registers, and management systems.
  • Encouraging hazard reporting and stop-work scenarios when appropriate.
  • Demonstrating safety leadership and setting safety standards on site.
  • Mentoring colleagues and interacting with project teams, site supervisors, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure safe work execution.
  • Conducting in-field observations to identify non-compliance and areas for improvement.
  • Reviewing OSH programs during tendering and contractor selection.
  • Investigating incidents, non-compliance, and gaps in safety practices.
  • Preparing reports and following up on corrective actions.
  • Maintaining records in CNL’s information systems.
  • Contributing to OSH improvements and updating corporate procedures.
  • Supporting the industrial hygiene program.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for:
  • Education: A diploma or degree in OSH or related field, or extensive health and safety training and certifications. Professional credentials like CRST, CRSP, CSP, or CMIOSH are preferred.
  • Experience: 4-6 years in OSH within complex projects such as nuclear, research, heavy construction, manufacturing, or environmental remediation. Experience in radiation safety is an asset.
  • Skills & Abilities: Strong communication, relationship management, organizational skills, problem-solving, software proficiency, and ability to interpret safety metrics. Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to change.
  • Security Clearance: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), requiring a minimum of 3 years verifiable history in relevant countries.
Working Conditions:
  • Physically active work, including walking, standing, and working in various environments and weather conditions.
  • Use of PPE, including respirators.
  • Work outdoors, in radiological and non-radiological environments, with occasional travel and overtime.
  • Possible work in confined spaces, heights, and laboratories.
  • Potential for a compressed work week (4x10 hours).
