Job summary

The London District Catholic School Board has a reputation for excellence, with more than 4,500 employees working together to educate approximately 27,500 students at 44 elementary schools, 9 secondary schools and St. Patrick Adult and Continuing Education within Middlesex, Oxford and Elgin counties, including the cities of London, St. Thomas, Strathroy and Woodstock.

Occasional Teachers

The London District Catholic School Board believes that recruiting and selecting Catholic teachers, who will serve the spiritual, academic, physical, emotional, aesthetic, and social needs of students, is of paramount importance.

Successful candidates will be required to travel to schools throughout system and must be available to accept assignments with short notice on a regular basis.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor of Education Degree and be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
  • Teaching experience in a Catholic school system is preferred
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations, Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession, and the Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession
  • A practicing Catholic with an active Catholic Faith life
  • Proficient knowledge & understanding of Ontario curriculum, evaluation & assessment techniques
  • Current in understanding of research, integrating technology and best instructional practices
  • Effective classroom management skills and ability to create a welcoming and safe Catholic learning environment for all student

  • Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Registration in Good Standing and Certificate of Qualification
  • Roman Catholic Baptismal Certificate or equivalent, or proof of initiation into the Roman Catholic Church

  • Copies of most recent Performance Appraisal and/or Practice Teaching Reports.
  • Contact information for three supervisory references (ex. Principals, Vice-Principals, Associate Teachers, previous or current employers)

  • Pre-service Roman Catholic Religious Education Course is preferred
