UHNBC (University Hospital of Northern British Columbia) in Prince George is looking for a part time General Obstetrician/Gynecologist.

Prince George is the Northern centre for business, education, health and culture in BC, servicing a direct population of approximately 87,000. It is a beautiful northern city surrounded by lakes, rivers and mountains with year-round recreation including biking, hiking, boating, kayaking, and over 41 ft of powder in the winter! UHNBC is the main referral center for Northern British Columbia serving a total population of approx. 400,000 spread over a large geographic area.

There are currently 7 members in the OB/GYN department sharing 6 full-time positions. OR time and on-call responsibilities are shared equitably between all the members of the department proportionate to their FTE position. The work is a good mix of both Obstetrics and Gynecology. Members work on a consultation-basis with a skilled group of family physicians and midwives who provide most of the primary obstetrical care. UHNBC sees approximately 1200 deliveries per year and has a level IIB NICU supporting babies as early as 30 weeks gestation. Northern Health Authority provides a moving allowance (between $9k - $15k), a recruitment incentive of $15k, a monthly rural retention fee of approx. $1,593, and a rural retention premium billing differential of 12.6% on each billing to MSP.

UHNBC is the main teaching center for Medical Students in the UBC Northern Medical Program. Prince George also has a 2-year Family Medicine Residency program. Both medical students and family practice residents rotate through our service year round. In addition, UHNBC provides teaching for UBC Residents in several specialties. There is a senior UBC OB/Gyn resident for 6 months of the year as part of their community rotation. The BC Cancer Agency, Centre for the North is onsite and offers radiation and medical oncology services.
