Job description

Background: New Works is a Vancouver-based non-profit organization that supports dance artists and promotes accessible art engagement. The organization hosts an annual presentation season, along with educational initiatives, artist management, and support. With over 30 years in the Vancouver contemporary dance community, New Works is committed to fostering community through dance.

In 2021, New Works launched the NWXR season, supporting new voices exploring creative technologies and embodied practices. NWXR offers opportunities for movement artists to investigate XR (Extended Reality), including AR, VR, and mixed reality technologies. Additionally, in 2025, New Works partnered with interplay_festival to support artists working in live online performance.

The NWXR Program Coordinator and Assistant Producer will work with both the NWXR and interplay_2026 programs, producing festival and community programming that engages artists and audiences with embodied technology. This role aims to bridge these platforms and connect with new communities.

This position is suited for a driven, creative individual eager to bring new vision to NWXR, support dance artists in XR, and collaboratively produce a fall festival and winter workshop series under mentorship from the New Works leadership team.

Working Conditions and Schedule: The contract involves 350-420 hours over 24 weeks, approximately 15 hours per week, with flexible scheduling. Most work will be in-person at the physical office, with remote work as needed.

We value equity and inclusion, encouraging applications from marginalized communities and requesting applicants to note any accessibility needs in their cover letter.
