We are looking to add experienced Foremen to our Yellowknife division for a busy 2025 construction season!

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct personnel, equipment, and resources in underground utilities and civil construction projects.
  • Ensure effective deployment and productivity of work crews.
  • Communicate openly with the Superintendent and Project Managers, reporting issues that could impact the project plan.
  • Collaborate as a team leader and participant throughout all construction phases.
  • Utilize survey equipment to ensure accurate grading.
  • Organize and coordinate daily activities of crews, subcontractors, and equipment, using corrective actions to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Ensure subgrade materials and base gravels meet contract specifications.
  • Identify segregation, drainage, density, and other quality concerns.
  • Implement best practices for efficient material use.
  • Plan work efficiently to maximize progress safely and on time.
  • Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Operate, care for, and maintain company equipment lawfully and effectively.
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Lead by Colas’s core values of caring, sharing, and daring.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's Code of Ethics and principles.
  • Perform other leadership and construction duties as required.
Qualifications | Requirements
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Class 5 driver’s license required.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in underground and/or civil construction.
  • At least 2 years in a Foreman role.
Working Conditions
  • Weather-dependent schedule, Monday to Saturday, up to 12 hours per day. Overtime paid according to legislation.
  • Primarily outdoor work, including exposure to weather, heat, humidity, dust, and asphalt.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying at least 50 lbs repeatedly.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.
  • Sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear recommended.
  • Must comply with drug and alcohol testing policies.
