We are looking to add experienced Foremen to our Yellowknife division for a busy 2025 construction season!

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct personnel, equipment, and resources in underground utilities and civil construction projects.
  • Ensure effective deployment and productivity of work crews.
  • Communicate openly with the Superintendent and Project Managers, reporting any issues affecting the project plan.
  • Collaborate as a team leader to execute all phases of construction.
  • Use survey equipment to ensure accurate grading.
  • Organize and coordinate daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, and equipment, utilizing corrective actions to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Ensure subgrade materials and base gravels meet contract specifications.
  • Identify issues such as segregation, drainage problems, densities, and other quality concerns.
  • Implement best practices for efficient use of construction materials.
  • Plan work efficiently to maximize progress safely and on time.
  • Review and adhere to construction schedules, meeting milestones and deadlines.
  • Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and care of company equipment.
  • Interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Lead by Colas' core values of caring, sharing, and daring.
  • Comply with and promote the company's Code of Ethics in all situations.
  • Perform other leadership and construction duties as required.
Qualifications | Requirements
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Class 5 driver’s license required.
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in underground and/or civil construction.
  • At least 2 years' experience in a Foreman role.
Working Conditions
  • Weather-dependent schedule from Monday to Saturday, up to 12 hours per day. Overtime paid according to employment standards.
  • Primarily outdoor work, including exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, dust, and asphalt.
  • Must be physically capable of repetitively lifting and carrying at least 50 lbs.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
  • Sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear are recommended.
  • Compliance with company drug and alcohol testing policies required.
