Job summary

CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking a Community Reporter/Editor (English Services) to join the N.W.T. news team in Yellowknife. You will gather, write, edit and package content for video, digital and audio platforms, with a focus on local communities across the Northwest Territories.

This full-time, permanent role requires a self-starter attitude and strong writing, time management and deadline discipline. You will contribute to breaking news coverage, collaborate with a tight-knit team across

Qualifications

University degree in journalism or equivalent.
Three+ years of recent, related experience in news.
Familiarity with CBC's Journalistic Standards and Practices is an asset.
Strong reporting for video and audio platforms required.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of Northwest Territories politics and issues is a plus.
Ability to speak an Indigenous language of the NWT is an asset.
Valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

Pitch, research, write and package original stories for CBC platforms.
Respond quickly to breaking news events and package stories for multiple platforms.
Regularly present stories on-air on radio and TV with background and context.
Develop relationships with sources and contacts across the Northwest Territories.
