Are you passionate about sustainable agriculture? Manitoba Organics (MO) is offering an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with farmers across the Prairies through the promotion and implementation of the Nutrient Budgeting App.

Overview

  • Location:Remote, with travel to non-profit events.
  • Duration:9 months
  • Anticipated Start Date:July 21st, 2025 (Candidate availability dependent)

Who We Are

Manitoba Organics (MO) is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the organic value chain in Manitoba. We work collaboratively with farmers, processors, researchers, and buyers to grow the organic sector through education, advocacy, and innovation.

Position Summary

The Nutrient Management Advisor will play a vital outreach and support role in promoting the Nutrient Budgeting App (https://pivotandgrow.com/resources/grain-resources/grain-production/nutrient-budgeting)across the Prairie provinces. This tool helps farmers make informed decisions about legume integration for nutrient management. The advisor will:

  • Engage with farmers through workshops, field days, one-on-one meetings, and classroom presentations
  • Provide technical support for farmers using the Nutrient Budgeting App
  • Collect user case data and feedback to improve the tool’s accessibility and accuracy
  • Support the communication of sustainable practices through documenting user success cases
  • Coordinate with project partners and contribute to outreach material development

Qualifications:

  • Background in agronomy, soil science, environmental studies, or agriculture (or equivalent experience)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with farmers or in agricultural settings is an asset
  • Organized, self-directed, and enthusiastic about sustainability
  • Comfortable with technology and data tools (experience with apps or digital tools is an asset)
  • Willing to travel to farms and agriculture events across the Prairie provinces
  • Hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture, agronomy, and research outreach
  • Professional development, mentorship, and opportunities for networking in the organic and agtech sectors
  • Flexible, remote work environment

Eligibility criteria

  • This position is partially funded through the Science Horizons grant program designed to support youth employment in Canada. As a condition of this funding, applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria. The participant must:
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada;
  • Be age 30 or under;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or hold refugee status in Canada;
  • Be currently unemployed, underemployed, or hold part-time employment.
  • The successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license and regular access to a reliable vehicle.
