Island Health is seeking a Nursing Unit Clerk dedicated to patient and staff safety, performing key clerical duties in a resident care area. This role is vital for ensuring effective communication within the unit, coordinating appointments and tests, and maintaining accurate records. Candidates should possess Grade 12 education, knowledge of medical terminology, and relevant experience or training. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for success.

Reporting to the Manager, Resident Care or designate, and under general supervision, this position performs clerical duties related to the operation of a resident care area. Responsibilities include acting as a communication link for the Unit by transcribing and processing physicians' orders, communicating with other departments and hospitals, coordinating resident appointments, arranging tests and receiving results, receiving and directing visitors, and answering telephones. The role also involves assembling and maintaining resident charts, keyboarding, and data entry. All duties are performed in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, standards, and relevant regulations and legislation.
Grade 12 education, knowledge of medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program, plus one year's recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
