In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Under the general direction of the Manager, this position uses independence and initiative to deliver, coordinate and/or provide nursing support services for children with special health care needs (birth to 19 years) and their parents, according to provincial standards with the Vancouver Island Health Authority. Services include: assessment; health care planning; implementation of support services which may include consultation, education/training, advisory and direct care; ongoing monitoring and evaluation of supports and care plans; participation in the administration of all Acts and Regulations applicable to nursing functions.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle; and Valid BC Driver's License.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And ExperienceGraduation from a recognized nursing program including courses in Public Health required. Minimum of three years experience including recent paediatric experience in an acute care nursing and/or public health setting. Current practicing registration with the College of Nurses of British Columbia.
