Job description

Summary
Provides administrative, operational, and clinical responsibilities for all services in the facility during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Acts as the clinical resource person on patient care and services, serving as the patient care representative. Collaborates with medical staff, support services, and clinical teams to ensure optimal patient care and environmental conditions at all times. Responsible for notifying the Administrator-On-Call of serious issues, incidents, and disasters.

Essential Functions
  1. Supervise patient care by verifying the use of the nursing process according to established standards, providing guidance to facilitate nursing activities.
  2. Ensure appropriate interventions in situations such as patient deterioration, disruptive behavior, or equipment malfunctions.
  3. Serve as the off-shift patient care representative, addressing issues, documenting, and investigating complaints from patients or their families.
  4. Conduct rounds in all patient care areas, emphasizing high-acuity patients and accurate reporting.
  5. Coordinate with support services, emergency, admitting, and clinical teams to meet clinical and environmental needs during off-shifts.
  6. Follow up to ensure patient needs and safety issues are resolved effectively.
Education

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required; Master's Degree preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.

Licenses and Credentials
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the relevant state - required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - preferred
Experience

5-7 years of clinical nursing experience required; 2-3 years of lead nursing experience preferred.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and issue-resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to anticipate challenges and develop strategies to address them.
