Position Overview
Team oriented and collaborative, the Nursing Supervisor will be a key member of the Leadership Team, providing oversight to all nursing staff in all aspects of patient care, and accountable for the appropriate utilization of resources, professional practice, patient experience, performance management and engagement while developing creative, team-based approaches for management of the clinical programs. The Nursing Supervisor collaborates with all relevant stakeholders to optimize service delivery and ensure patients and staff are supported.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and Nurse Practitioner
- Monitor patients' health condition and respond to changes in status.
- Maintain accurate documentation according to EHN Canada and Documentation Practice Standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and families.
- Oversee and delegate tasks to other nursing staff, as appropriate.
- Assist with nursing education, training and mentoring of new nursing staff.
- Adheres to the behaviours outlined in our policies and procedures that promote client safety.
- Investigates, reports, and addresses any patient related incidents, escalating as required.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to other nursing staff.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Function as a liaison between nursing staff and management
- Assist with developing and implementing policies and procedures that enhance patient care and staff accountability.
- Promote a positive work environment and foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
Qualifications
- Current registration, in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses
- Holds a BScN
- BLS & CPR trained.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, practice standards and best practice guidelines as outlined by the College of Nurses
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience preferred with experience in addictions and mental health.
- Strong clinical assessment, problem- solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills
