Compensation Range

6,551.00 - $9,418.83 CAD Monthly

The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications, and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred, or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job End Date

This position is located within a healthcare facility, therefore, the successful candidate will be required to provide verification of full vaccination against Covid-19 prior to the start date, as required by a provincial health mandate.

Part-time FTE ranges from 0.30 to 0.80

Job Description Summary

To assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the clinical component of undergraduate nursing courses; to educate students in a participatory, interactive, and inclusive environment to develop competency and capacity for critical judgment, decision-making, and mastery of entry-level competencies within the broader context of comprehensive patient/client care.

Organizational Status

Collaborates with, works closely with, and reports to the course leader and the Associate Director, Undergraduate Programs as required.

Work Performed

  1. Actively participates in the teaching of nursing competencies in the clinical practice skills labs.
  2. Provides clinical supervision of a group of students in hospital or community health settings, including:
  • Assigning students to provide direct care to patients/clients
  • Assessing students' initial skill levels and identifying the need for new skills training
  • Monitoring and evaluating students' skill performance to ensure standards are maintained
  • Directing supervision and teaching of skills as appropriate to direct patient care in the clinical setting
  • Attends orientation sessions at clinical sites as necessary.
  • Assists course leaders with the theoretical component of clinical coursework, such as grading papers or delivering lectures.
  • Participates in team activities related to planning, implementing, and evaluating the clinical component of the undergraduate program.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Consequence of Error / Judgement

    Error in judgment could impact the clinical performance of nursing students and patient safety, potentially affecting faculty and clinical placements, and could compromise the School's reputation.

    Supervision Received

    Works independently and collaboratively in clinical settings.

    Supervision Given

    Supervises and is responsible for students (typically 6, up to 12) in clinical areas; provides direct supervision of students performing skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Undergraduate degree in Nursing & Registered Nurse with BCCNM
    • Nursing Licensure in British Columbia
    • Master's Degree in Nursing preferred
    • At least two years of clinical experience
    • Strong clinical background in Adult Acute/Critical Care, Maternal/Child, Pediatrics, Mental Health, Gerontology, or Community/Population Health
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills
    • Teaching experience and/or a keen interest in teaching
