Shift: Days/Evenings

Shift Times: 0700-1515 / 1500-2315

Union: AUPE Aux Nursing

Rate of Pay: $20.77 - $26.02

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Client Service Manager, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is an unregulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides ongoing client care. The HCA observes, monitors, and reports on client status/condition, including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This position delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure, maintaining professional and ethical standards at all times, and performs other related duties as required.

Program Summary:

EQuaL (Enabling Quality of Life) is for adults aged 18 to 64 with disabilities related to diseases or conditions, such as multiple sclerosis or brain injury, requiring full-time support in a continuing care centre.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Graduation from Grade 12 and a recognized Alberta Health Care Aide program
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Physical ability to manage lifting, transferring, and repositioning clients
  • Active registration in the Alberta HCA Directory
  • Related healthcare experience is an asset
  • Program-specific training/experience is an asset
