Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Client Service Manager, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is an unregulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides ongoing client care. The HCA observes, monitors, and reports on client status/condition, including changes in physical and emotional well-being. The HCA ensures that any changes are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This position involves delivering prescribed medications accurately according to policy and procedure. In alignment with Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care, and policies, the HCA maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. The role includes other related duties as required.

Program Summary:

EQuaL (Enabling Quality of Life) — for adults aged 18 to 64 with disabilities related to diseases or conditions such as multiple sclerosis or brain injury, requiring full-time support at a continuing care centre.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, plus graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program.
  • Effective reading, writing, and communication skills in English.
  • Physical capability to manage frequent lifting, transferring, and repositioning of clients.
  • Active and current registration in the Alberta HCA Directory.

Experience:

  • Related experience in a healthcare facility is an asset.
  • Program-specific training or experience is an asset.
