Position Overview

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team under the supervision of the Manager, Health Services, or Nurse in Charge, the incumbent:

  1. Performs a variety of clerical tasks and acts as a communication link for the unit.
  2. Performs a variety of tasks for the care and comfort of patients, as well as routine domestic tasks to maintain cleanliness (approximately 10-90% depending on unit, occupancy, and shift).
Experience
  • Previous related work experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba Standards, required.
  • Successful completion of both the Health Care Aide and Unit Clerk programs required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • CPR training in accordance with Employer policy.
  • Ongoing training in Compressions as per Code Blue Policy.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Basic keyboarding skills (30-50 words per minute) required.
  • Medical terminology (75% pass mark) required.
  • Excellent command of English (oral and written).
  • Training on PHIA, WHMIS, and Universal Precautions will be provided during probation.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and respond to multiple demands.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to operate information technology equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment with interruptions.
  • Physical activity such as lifting and transferring patients and equipment may be involved.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

Requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check. The candidate is responsible for any service charges. Checks are valid if obtained within six months prior to employment.

Employees cannot hold multiple positions across WRHA that total more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA includes various sites and programs.
