The Care Company is seeking a self-driven Nurse (RPN or RN) to provide complex care for paediatric clients in the home setting.
Shifts
- We offer various shifts, including day, evening, overnight, and weekends.
- Most Urgent Need: Currently seeking a nurse for a client in Oshawa, with consistent Sundays 8am-4pm shifts. The client has large dogs; candidates must be comfortable working in such an environment.
- Shift lengths vary from 4-12 hours depending on client needs.
- Please only apply if you can commit to a consistent, ongoing weekly schedule with no foreseeable changes. Consistency of care is paramount.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provide one-on-one personal care, including bathing, oral hygiene, grooming, toileting, incontinence care, dressing, and feeding, following the care plan and scope of practice.
- Administer medications via appropriate routes, document all administrations in the electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR).
- Monitor and assess vital signs, document findings, and report abnormal readings or concerns.
- Support clients with oxygen therapy, G-tube feeding, and suctioning as per training and protocols.
- Assist with mobility and transfers using mechanical lifts or manual assistance, following safety procedures.
- Perform prescribed ROM and physical therapy exercises, assist with ambulation.
- Observe and document changes in the client’s condition, escalate concerns as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all care provided.
- Use and dispose of PPE as per infection control protocols.
- Follow organizational policies on infection control, safety, privacy, and conduct; report hazards or incidents immediately.
Requirements
The following are MANDATORY:
- Active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as an RN.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification within the past 12 months.
- Valid WHMIS 2015 certification within the past 12 months.
- Negative TB test within the past 12 months.
- Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the past 12 months.
- Availability for various shifts, including holidays.
- Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.
- Comfort and capability to care for clients of varying ages and needs, including both genders.
- Ability to identify and report care concerns.
- Experience in in-home/community care settings.
Complex care experience with interventions such as:
- Tracheostomy suctioning
- Ventilators
- G and J tube feeding
- Bi-pap or C-pap
- Cough assist
- Oxygenation
- Seizure monitoring
