Job description

Nurse Practitioner, Red Fish Healing Centre

BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services
Coquitlam, BC
The NP will work in a team environment providing primary care to patients with underlying mental health and substance use disorders.
What you'll do
  • Diagnose and treat undiagnosed clients for diseases, illnesses, and conditions within the Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice; order and interpret diagnostic investigations; develop and implement treatment plans; prescribe treatments and medications; monitor ongoing care; provide emergency first-line care.
  • Establish priorities for managing health conditions; provide follow-up treatment; communicate health findings, diagnoses, and prognoses with clients and families; support and counsel clients regarding their health.
  • Collaborate with or consult physicians and other health and social service providers; accept and make referrals as appropriate.
  • Prescribe drugs within statutory, regulatory, and employer standards; apply pharmacology knowledge and evidence-based practice in medication management.
  • Participate in research to improve patient care, nursing, health policy, and population health; synthesize data on health determinants; implement evidence-based screening, health promotion, and harm reduction strategies.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary education, mentorship, and professional development; foster healthcare partnerships.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate policies related to nursing and interdisciplinary practice; address legal and ethical issues in patient care.
  • Assign, supervise, and evaluate other nursing and healthcare personnel as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.
What you bring
Qualifications
  • Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Minimum of 4 years of recent, relevant clinical nursing experience.
